A drowning opossum is rescued by boaters

While on a boat ride in Lake Michigan, two boaters discover an endangered opossum fighting for its life on July 6 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Kevin and Char Morse went out for a boat ride when they encountered the opossum swimming in the deep waters between the piers of the White Lake Channel, halfway between White Lake and Lake Michigan.

"The animal was struggling and had no way out of the water, as the piers have only ladders in the walls for emergency escapes," says Char Morse.

The two then toss the opossum a flotation device which it clings onto and the two were able to pull it onto the boat.
