Ajax fans set off fireworks outside Juventus' hotel ahead of Champions League game

Ajax fans tried to help their team ahead of their Champions League clash with Juventus by setting off fireworks outside the Italian team’s hotel in the early hours of Wednesday (April 10).

The filmer, who lives in a student accommodation next to the Van der Valk Hotel Amsterdam-Amstel, shot the video at around 4:20 in the morning. He told Newsflare that a similar display had been triggered a few hours earlier.

Both displays lasted more than five minutes.

A video circulating on the Internet shows Ajax supporters setting up and lighting the fireworks outside the hotel before jumping in a car and leaving the scene to the backdrop of noise and pyrotechnics.

Massimiliano Allegri's men are in Amsterdam for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-finals on Wednesday evening at Johan Cruyff ArenA.

In February, Dutch fans made the same move ahead of their side's last-16 tie against Real Madrid, with fireworks and music at 3am in front of the team's hotel.
