Atchafalaya Basin Jump

Occurred on July 9, 2021 / Butte La Rose, Louisiana, USA

Info from Licensor: "We were stuck in traffic on top of the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge for about 2 hours. (Khory Vaughan and Jimmy Jennings). Boredom struck, and temptation took over. We started wondering how deep the water could be, and then I said, well ain’t but one way to find out. With no hesitation, Jimmy said Bet!! He was gonna do it. I started recording. Then boom, he was gone. I called 911 immediately, knowing the waterway and knowing he wasn't coming back up on his own. I talked to Louisiana wildlife and fisheries as well as local police departments. They were en route ASAP. He treaded water for about 2 1/2 hours and made it to land, where he found a four-wheeler to search for a way back, only finding out he was trapped on an island. He found a camp and went in to find food and a phone, but the phone didn’t work. About 3 hours into the adventure, Wildlife and Fisheries found him and help him at gunpoint, telling him to put his hands up, but he couldn’t due to being injured from the fall. He was arrested but later reduced to only a few fines of criminal mischief and back to work on Monday!!"
