Baby turtles emerge from the sand after hatching under Guatemalan beach

Amazing footage from Guatemala yesterday (January 27) shows numerous baby turtles climbing out from under a sandy beach after hatching.

Footage taken by ecologists from Quetzaltenango, Guatemala show the infant turtles appearing from the dark sand into the care and protection of the conservationists.

The filmer commented: "Each year hundreds of turtles arrive at the Pacific coast of Guatemala to lay their eggs,

"They are collected by ecologists and are covered in small turtle hatcheries,

"Weeks after the small turtles are born that are released into the sea in order to preserve the species."
