Bear Challenges Mother Moose in Front Yard

Occurred on May 26, 2019 / Homer, Alaska, USA

Info from Licensor: "My husband and I were enjoying some classic Alaskan springtime wildlife visitors - a female moose with two brand new calves - in our yard, eating, playing, sleeping, throughout the day and late into the evening. Suddenly, we heard loud growling coming from the woods behind our house and the mother moose became incredibly agitated. A black bear emerged from the woods, ambling across our porch and past our front door, before deciding to charge the moose. I was able to film the height of action when the mother moose charged and cornered the bear against our garden fencing (which needed repairs after the encounter). It was harrowing to watch from such a close distance, worrying about the fate of all involved. The moose and her calves were able to safely escape, and the bear ran away from our property for the evening--though multiple accounts from neighbors proved he had quite the night of exploring chicken coops, and even inserting his head into someone's dog door."
