Climate activist Greta Thunberg sets sail from Plymouth to New York

Teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg set sail from Plymouth in the UK on Wednesday (August 14) bound for New York.

The electricity onboard the racing yacht will come from wind turbines and solar panels, meaning the journey has a zero carbon footprint.

The Atlantic crossing is expected to take two weeks.

Once in New York, the 16-year-old will attend a UN climate conference.
