Commuters in Mumbai board packed rush-hour train from the wrong side

This is the moment commuters dangerously crossed over tracks to board a train in Mumbai from the wrong side.

Footage filmed at 8:30 am in Dica station in the bustling city shows locals jumping down from an opposite platform to attempt to board an arriving train from the wrong side.

A train passes through the station along the tracks where dozens of people were previously standing, sounding its horn as it brushes past travellers.

Mumbai's transport network is notoriously dangerous and is struggling under the weight of demand.

Between 2007 and 2017 nearly 38,000 people have died in train-related incidents on Mumbai's rail network, according to Mumbai's police force.

The majority of deaths on Mumbai's network are caused by people crossing over rail tracks, an issue brought about by a lack of pedestrian overpasses.
