Driver leaves home without realising their cat is on the roof of the car

This is the bizarre moment a driver leaves home, unaware their cat is sitting on the roof.

The motorist rushed out of the house to pick up her cousin, to take him to school in the city of Kuching, in the Malaysian state of Sarawak, on the island of Borneo.

Twenty-year-old Eva Reeta was running late so did not notice the family's cat, Cimek, napping on the roof.

She said she drove for a few minutes and heard meows but was not aware that it was her cat, until other drivers got her attention further down the road.

She said: “I heard a cat sound but it was coming from outside, so I didn't think anything more of it. Then the car behind me pulled up and opened the window to tell me what happened."

"So, I stopped the car by the side of the road and brought him straight down before driving home again."

She added: “Cimek likes to sleep on top of my car and usually wakes up at about 6am every day. He will leave the car every time the engine is on.

"But I didn't know why this time he continued sitting there even though the car was moving. I was very surprised but also glad to see he was safe and not falling down while I was driving."

The 11-year-old cat was unhurt in the incident on Thursday 18 July.
