Experts baffled by mystery species of snake found in Indian village

Experts are struggling to identify a species of snake which was found in a village in southern India on Wednesday.

The unusual black-and-white reptile has sparked intense debate online with some claiming it to be a type of king cobra but others not convinced.

The serpent was removed from Kalamanja village by local snake man Lingappa Macharu, who said he'd never encountered a creature like it.

Indian veterinarians have also so far drawn a blank when it comes to naming the species.
