Futuristic hotpot restaurant staffed by robots opens in China

Chinese hotpot chain Haidilao recently opened China’s first AI hotpot restaurant in Beijing.

The cool clip, shot on December 7, 2018, shows robotic arms picking up dishes in a storage room for customers and robot waiters delivering them to the tables, though there are still some human staff seen attending to customers.

Customers waiting for tables can be seen sitting in front of a screen which can allow them to scan the QR codes on it, to download the Haidilao App to play mobile games.

There are 93 tables and two rooms in the over 1600-square-metre restaurant, reports said.

Haidilao says the AI-operated system will save labour costs and improve food safety.
