Heartbreaking video shows moment wild elephant tries to escape ropes

A wild elephant fights its restraints after being tied up in a village in Sri Lanka.

The creature entered the village of Meegaswewa in Ampara in search of food, according to the filmer. Villagers chased the animal throwing sticks and stones at it. The elephant then started attacking properties in the village.

More than 20 wildlife officers along with two vets attempted to subdue the animal. "After several hours of chase the wildlife officials were able to successfully tranquillise the elephant," said the uploader "The surgeons provided medicine for its wounds."

The elephant tried to escape from the ropes, but was transferred later to an elephant orphanage.
