Indian city flooded with lights in preparation for largest festival in the world


The city of Prayagraj in north India was lit up with massive decorative lights in preparation for the enormous Hindu festival of Kumbh Mela.

Kumbh Mela for 2019 is set to drawn many from India and abroad countries to watch this event in Prayagraj, formerly Allahabad, in Uttar Pradesh state, with some attendance estimates rising as high as 120 million pilgrims.

Prayagraj was filmed here on January 13, covered with lights and lamps all over the banks of the Triveni Sangam, or the confluence between the rivers Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati, sacred to Hindus everywhere.

Luxury tents have been set-up in Prayagraj as part of the preparations for the festival, which is set to get underway from tomorrow (January 15).
