Local people transported by JCB across river to escape landslide in north India

Local people affected by recent landslides in Kashmir, north India, have had to be ferried across a river using a JCB, riding both on the back and in the bucket of the heavy vehicle.

Video of the rescued, filmed today (February 25) in Ramsu, Jammu and Kashmir state, shows how people climbed onto and into the JCB, which then drove across the river.

Other people, not content to wait for the JCB ferry, can be seen in later video attempting to reach the other side by crossing ridge of rocks along a rise in the river.
