Locals from Bali launch fireballs at each other in a ritual aptly named 'fire wars'

These are the bizarre scenes from a traditional Indonesian pastime labelled 'Fire Wars' where people launch burning objects at each other.

Locals from Bali hold fire wars on the eve of Nyepi Day - a ritual that is supposed to banish old wrongs.

Nyepi is a Balinese 'Day of Silence' which started today (March 7), and is a Hindu celebration which includes fasting, meditation and a shut down of the internet.
