Post-Michael footage shows Florida Panhandle city turned into wasteland

Hurricane Michael made landfall on Mexico Beach, Florida, on October 10, devastating cities along the Panhandle as residents braced for what has been called the third most powerful storm in US history.

This video, filmed in Mexico Beach on October 12, shows the remains of houses that had been flattened during the hurricane.

At least 18 deaths have been reported, though the number is feared to rise as rescue crew continue to search through collapsed homes and rubble. Mexico Beach mayor Al Cathey told media that 46 people were still missing or unaccounted for.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) employees are beginning visits to shelters and damaged neighborhoods to start registering people for federal assistance that is available to residents after a disaster, according to local reports.
