Protective bonobo mother takes care of newborn amid scorching heat at UK zoo

This bonobo mother takes good care of her newborn as high temperatures hit Twycross Zoo in England.

Footage shows the mother carrying her baby across their enclosure and cooling down with some ice tea.

The filmed told Newsflare: ''The baby has a little yawn before mum decides it's better to move to get out of the sun during this heatwave. She moves a couple more times holding her baby tight.''

''When it's time for some refreshments from the staff, mum gets her yoghurt bottle filled with lemon tea ice.

''She's a really good mum, taking care to move as the sun moves and constantly holding her tight to her chest.''
