Russian man films mesmerising walk across world's deepest frozen lake

A Russian man filmed his thrilling walk across frozen Lake Baikal in Siberia.

Footage captured on January 12 shows the man walking on the crystal clear ice displaying different and amazing patterns across the lake.

''It felt like I was standing on the water or walking on a very fragile glass. Despite this, I knew it's safe to be there as the thickness of the ice is about 15cm,'' the filmer said.

''I could clearly see the bottom of the lake, stones, and fish. All of this made me feel like I was looking at a fairyland.''

Lake Baikal is the deepest lake and the biggest reservoir of fresh water on Earth.
