Shocking moment iconic Notre-Dame spire collapses into flames

This is the shocking moment when the spire of Notre-Dame de Paris collapsed into flames as a fire ripped through the iconic cathedral on Monday afternoon (April 15).

The footage was shot by residents of Île Saint-Louis from the Quai d'Orléans, located in the heart of the French capital.

In the video, onlookers can be heard gasping and screaming when the spike falls as smoke fills the air.

The roof of the cathedral also collapsed in the fire but firefighters managed to save the main structure and its two main bell towers.
