Shoppers flee in panic as mall floods following heavy rain

Floodwater entered the ground floor of Farmers Plaza in Cubao, Quezon City, the Philippines after a sudden heavy downpour hit the region on October 2.

In the footage, stall owners can be seen evacuating the area with their goods with the help of the mall staff.

The mall maintenance team also installed a water pumping machine to suck out the flood water that has entered the premises.

Visitor Inol Banocag said: "The stall owners should be compensated for their losses, their goods were damaged.

"The flood water also smells like the sewer. I hope they put more attention to the mall's maintenance."

Manila was affected by Typhoon Queenie, which caused heavy rains to hit the area.

The tropical storm – which passed from the Philippines to Japan - had maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometres per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 170 kph.
