Soapbox Derby Downhill Spill

Occurred on June 16, 2018 / Tandragee, Northern Ireland, UK

Info from Licensor: "This crash is from the annual Tandragee Soapbox Derby held in a small Northern Irish town called Tandragee (County Armagh). It is held annually on the Saturday before midsummer's day.

The race raises money for charity and brings the local community together.

It is a race down a VERY steep hill in the main street of the town and the cart which gets to the bottom of the hill the quickest is the winner.

There are three heats, a straight run, a chicane style course using bales and then the 'KILLER' race.

This is the race that the spectators come along to watch, as it is the one with the thrills, spills and of course crashes!

The carts race down the hill and have to negotiate one foot high ramps at speeds in excess of 20 mph. Some make it, but others fail and crash in spectacular fashion. Often ending up in hospital."
