South Africans set up barricades during violent protests in Atlantis


Violent protests erupted in Atlantis, near Cape Town, as demonstrators took to the streets to protest corruption in the council.

Footage captured on October 18 shows protesters blocking a road with burning tyres and tree branches.

Police can be seen firing rubber bullets and tear gas to disperse protesting crowds.

Protesters are calling for seven members of the Cape Town council to resign over alleged corruption and poor public services delivery.
