Thousands gather for massive wine fight in Northern Spain

Thousands of tourists and locals gathered up a mountain in northern Spain on Saturday to take part in the annual ‘Wine Battle’ or "La Batalla del Vino."

The fight has been held annually for more than 300 years to celebrate St Peter's Day in Haro, Spain.

The festival in the Rioja region, which begins with a mass on a mountaintop, quickly descends into a wine-soaked battle where revellers use water pistols, buckets and back-mounted crop sprayers during the vino-soaked free-for-all.
