Time-lapse footage shows fire raging through Italian island of Stromboli after volcanic lava flows

Impressive time-lapse footage filmed on July 27 captures a massive fire burning on the Italian island of Stromboli.

According to the filmer, photographer Adam Butler, who lives on the neighbouring island of Panarea: "The southern corner of the Aeolian Island of Stromboli, located off the northern coast of Sicily, burst into a massive fire.

"This was possibly caused by new lava flows after the huge eruption of Stromboli earlier in the month. The fire burned for hours."

The volcanic island erupted earlier this month on July 3.
