Venezuelan migrants receive donations from Bogota community

Venezuela migrants settled in Bogota, Colombia, received donations of clothes, hygiene items, food from the local community on Sunday, October 7.

This video, filmed at around 1 pm, shows Venezuelans lining up and walking away with an assortment of donated items.

According to the United Nations, 1.6 million Venezuelans have left the country since 2015, with many of them moving to neighboring Colombia. The influx has overwhelmed local shelters and organisations, with residents complaining that their neighborhood parks were being overtaken by plastic tarps and ragged tents

The city government has been holding job fairs and other events to help the new arrivals find their feet, and over the next few weeks will be setting up migrant service centers to help them find employment.
