Torrential rain lashes Australian state of Victoria, turns waterfall into cascading rush of water

Heavy downpours and flash flooding hit Victoria on Thursday, December 12, with authorities reporting that a "month's worth" of rain was dumped on the state.

This video, filmed at at Woolshed Falls, Beechworth, shows the normally calm stream of water turned into a raging waterfall.

In northeast Victoria, hundreds of vehicles were trapped on the Hume Freeway, prompting rescues and a closure of the highway.

The Bureau of Meteorology is warning of more rain and possible hail for the region.
