Woman's smartphone explodes at her desk, sending her to hospital


A woman working at a government office in Pekanbaru, Riau, western Indonesia, was injured after her smartphone exploded in her hand while she was making a call on Monday (February 4).

The woman, Netia, 27, received facial injuries when her phone exploded while being charged at her desk as she picked it up to make a call. She can be seen in CCTV footage immediately getting up and running away, before fainting and being rushed to hospital by colleagues.

She was taken to Awal Bros Hospital, where she was treated for lacerations to her face.
