20 years after stopping ethnic cleansing, Bill Clinton awarded "Order of Freedom" medal in Kosovo

Kosovar President Hashim Thaci has given the "Order of Freedom" medal to former US President Bill Clinton today (June 11), and declared that Clinton's intervention into the ethnic cleansing happening in 1999 made him a "hero of Kosovo."

“I always will be proud of the fact that I happened to be president of the United States when you needed,” Clinton said.

The head of state told Clinton that there is no prize that could reward his contribution to Kosovo. Thaci has expressed the highest gratitude on behalf of Kosovo, to the former US president.

He emphasized that after 20 years, Kosovo is independent and therefore grateful to the United States.
