30 cents a gallon gas causes massive traffic pile-up in Los Angeles as part of Amazon TV stunt

A stunt for an Amazon TV show led to 1950s-style pricing all around Los Angeles today (August 15), including 30 cents a gallon gas that caused massive traffic pile-ups across the city.

The 1950s-era pricing is pegged to the “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s” Emmy Awards campaign, which is offering deep discounts at businesses all over L.A., but is reportedly causing major traffic delays near in Santa Monica.

“Expect delays. Avoid the area if possible,” a 10:27 a.m. tweet from the Santa Monica Police Dept. warned.
