89-year-old's body found in Tottenham prompts murder investigation

A murder investigation has been launched after an 89-year-old's body was found at a north London home yesterday (August 4).

Video shows the police cordon one day later at the address in Waltheof Gardens.

The Met released a statement saying: "Police were called by London Ambulance Service at around 1045hrs on Sunday, 4 August, to the body of an 89-year-old woman found at an address in Waltheof Gardens, N17.

"The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been informed. A post-mortem examination and formal identification will be arranged in due course.

"Officers believe one or more suspects gained entry to the woman’s house in Waltheof Gardens at some point between Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish any motive. Officers haven’t ruled out burglary as a motive, but they retain an open mind at this early stage. There has been no arrest."
