Afghan boy who lost leg to landmine dances for joy with new prosthetic limb

In Kabul, Afghanistan a very heartwarming moment occurred when a little boy named Ahmed started dancing in joy and happiness after getting a new prosthetic leg on Sunday (May 5).

The video, filmed at an International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Orthopedic Centre in Kabul, shows the young boy filled with joy with his new leg, allowing him to walk, play and dance.

The ICRC officer who recorded this video commented that Ahmed lost his leg in a landmine explosion in Logar province in eastern Afghanistan some time back, but now has a new lease on life thanks to the prosthetic.

Afghanistan has a substantial number of unexploded ordinance and landmines, with some estimates suggesting as many as 640,000 mines laid since 1979, according to landmine charity The HALO Trust.
