'Thirsty' elephant caught opening tap to drink water from sink in Botswana camp

A thirsty elephant was caught drinking water from a sink at a camp in Botswana.

Footage captured by a South African tourist, shows the pachyderm using its trunk to open the tap of a sink and drinking water.

The filmer told Newsflare: ''A friend and I went to shower, as we were on our way out to head back to camp again, the elephant was blocking our exit at the bathroom.

''We almost waited 2 hours for the elephant to finish drinking so that we could leave.

''He/she knew exactly how to open the tap, there are watering holes but it seems they prefer drinking from the tap!

The clip was captured on July 8.
