Armed police in Croydon respond to reports of a man with firearm 'threatening to kill people'


Armed police in south London have responded to reports of a gunman threatening to kill and shoot people this morning (March 19).

Lower Addiscombe Road in Croydon has been blocked off by officers as the suspect is said to have taken refuge in a vehicle.

Croydon Police tweeted: “Police were called shortly after 08:30hrs today by a man threatening to harm people.

“Officers, including armed officers, attended and located the man in a car in Pagehurst Road, Addiscombe.

“Officers remain with the man and are attempting to peacefully resolve the incident.”

The filmer explained: "[At] around 10:00 am countless police cars and vans driving down with sirens.

"[The] word around [was] a man was with a gun shouting he’d ‘kill people.’ Still going on now."
