Australia Day marked in Perth with 21-gun salute
As part of Australia Day celebrations, the Australian Defence Force performed a twenty-one gun salute at Kings Park, Perth, Western Australia on Saturday.
Australia Day is the official national day of Australia which marks the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet of British ships at Port Jackson, New South Wales.
The public holiday has become controversial with some people, especially indigenous Australians, referring to it as "Invasion Day".
