Biker exposes 'shocking' piles of rubbish scattered on Welsh hills

A biker travelling through the hills of South Wales filmed the "shocking" amount of rubbish and refuse left strew across the countryside.

The motorcyclist was travelling through the fields near Merthyr Tydfil when he decided to film the scene on October 11.

Piles of domestic waste, industrial waste, wood and mattresses pockmark the otherwise beautiful landscape.

"Apparently all of the mountains around here are like this," the filmer says.

In 2016-2017, more than 38,500 incidents of fly-tipping – the illegal and improper dumping of waste – were recorded in Wales.

An on-the-spot fine of up to £400 can be issued for fly-tipping.
