Children bathe in leaking water pipe in drought-hit Philippines


Children were seen bathing in a leaking water pipe as the Philippines suffered crippling droughts.

More than a million homes had been left without water last month when the El Nino warm phase caused reservoirs to dry out.

Experts warned that it could last until the summer. Many families had to queue up at filling stations to get plastic containers full of liquid.

Meanwhile, the youngsters took the chance to have showers by washing themselves in the water shrining from a burst pipe in Manila on Saturday (April 6).

According to Manila Water, which serves part of the vast Metro Manila area, around 52,000 households relying on their supply currently do not have water. Many more are experience low water pressure and inconsistent flow from their taps.
