China cloned five gene-edited monkeys for human disease research

Five gene-edited monkeys were cloned in Shanghai for human disease research yesterday (January 23).

In the video, five new-born monkeys play with toys and are taken care of by a nurse in an incubator.

According to reports, it was the first time that multiple clones had been made from a gene-edited monkey for biomedical research.

The monkeys were cloned from a gene-edited macaque with circadian rhythm disorders that are linked to sleep problems, depression and Alzheimer’s disease.
