China’s new mega-bridge welcome thousands of excited commuters on first day of service

The world’s longest sea bridge connecting Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macau welcomed around 30,000 travellers on its first day of service yesterday (October 24).

The video shows passengers and travel groups gathering and queueing to enter the Zhuhai border.

A shuttle bus can also be seen loading passengers about to cross the bridge.

According to official records, more than 1,100 cars and 1,120 shuttle buses crossed the bridge on that day.

After the bridge opened to traffic, it only takes half an hour from Zhuhai to Hong Kong by vehicle, which is more than two hours by ship.
