Deadly flash floods hit ancient city of Petra


Flash flooding in Jordan has killed 11 people and forced the evacuation of close to 4,000 tourists from the ancient city of Petra, according to officials.

Rescue teams are still searching for five people who were swept away in their car in Madaba, south-west of the capital, Amman.

Authorities also declared a state of emergency in the port city of Aqaba due to the downpours.
