Distracted driver playing on phone smashes car into central reservations in Chongqing

A car smashed into the central reservations on a highway in southern China’s Chongqing City because the driver was playing on his phone.

In CCTV video of the incident, which took place on February 19, a white car suddenly crashes through the central reservations and drives onto the opposite lanes before stopping.

In another clip, the seriously damaged car can be seen stopping on the emergency lane.

According to local police, the driver was playing on his phone when he was driving along the road.

Fortunately, two people in the car only suffered minor injuries. The car driver was fined 200 Yuan (£23) and was also required to pay compensation for the loss of the road facilities.
