Dramatic moment a man escapes a landslide, while his family is trapped

CCTV captured the terrifying moment a huge landslide almost swallowed a man, while his mother was buried.

The man's wife and child were also buried when their nearby home was hit.

The incident took place on 9 August in Kottakkunnu, a popular tourist destination in Kerala state's Malappuram district.

CCTV footage of the incident shows the man, holding an umbrella, talking to an older woman believed to be his mother. Seconds later the wall of mud rushes towards them.

Police say rescue operations are continuing.

Dozens of people have been killed in rain-related incidents in Kerala in the last three days.
