El Paso Challenge: 22 heart-warming acts of kindness by an LA actress to honor 22 mass shooting victims
The heartwarming and hope-inducing moment was captured when actress Cara Santana (@CaraSantana) does 22 acts of kindness in Los Angeles yesterday (August 5) to honor the 22 victims of the deadly mass shooting in El Paso, Texas.
Cara was inspired by Ruben Martinez, an 11-year-old boy from El Paso who started the #elpasochallenge to spread kindness in a world that seems bleaker by the day, so she took to the streets of Los Angeles yesterday (August 5) to make a positive impact.
The domestic terror attack on El Paso last Saturday was conducted by a white male who drove over 10 hours from Dallas specifically to target Hispanics, killing 22 and injuring 24.
Cara is choosing to donate any proceeds from this video to Las Americas, a homegrown non-profit located in El Paso which is dedicated to serving the legal needs of low income immigrants, including refugees and asylum seekers, victims of crime, and families seeking reunification.
"If you're at all like me, and you feel helpless and hopeless...[The El Paso mass shooting] was an act of hate so I'm going to do 22 acts of love," said Cara.
Cara’s numerous and touching acts of kindness include picking up litter, paying someone’s meter, buying strangers things from coffee to gas to flowers, as well as taking pictures for a group of girls and helping a stranded motorist.
“I’m so moved by everyone’s response. The world is a beautiful place and you just have to look and find it," said the 33-year-old actress.
