Firefighters Pull Dog From Icy Otonabee River

Occurred on March 14, 2022 / Peterborough, Ontario, Canada

Info from Licensor: Just before 9 a.m. Peterborough firefighters received a call advising them of a dog that went in the river near Turtle Island just South of the Parkhill Street Bridge. Firefighters arrived to find a dog approximately 20 feet from shore fighting to stay above the water at the ice line. As firefighters prepare to go out on the ice the dog slowly stopped howling and you could tell it was struggling to keep its head above the water. As firefighters reached the dog its head sunk below the water for a second and popped up as the firefighter reached down and pulled the dog from the water. The dog was brought to shore and taken home by the owner.
