Fishermen filmed chopping jellyfish into seafood delicacy in Vietnam

Fishermen were filmed processing giant jellyfishes into food in Ha Tinh Province, Vietnam, turning the poisonous invertebrates into a seafood delicacy.

Jellyfish is one of the special dishes of fishermen in the central provinces of Vietnam. Giant jellyfishes appear and drift to the coast of these provinces from February to April each year, as in this video that was filmed on February 9.

Fishermen will pick up the jellyfish and cut their legs to prepare food. Jellyfish with poisonous thorns will cause itching so these fishermen are very careful when picking them up from the sea.

The parts of jellyfish used will be washed in brine and processed into salads. The parts of processed jellyfish cost $1 USD/1 kg.
