Flames continue to spread in Oregon wildfire


A Milepost 97 fire is burning in steep terrain along Interstate 5 one mile south of Canyonville, Oregon (July 29) through the forest.

On Saturday, more than 650 firefighters came to assist in fighting the flames with multiple helicopters and tankers.

Smoke from the 8,878-acre Milepost is affecting the air quality in Southern Oregon and Northern California.

As of the today (July 30) the fire has grown to an estimated 12,336 acres in an area where firefighters are dealing with falling trees, rolling rocks, and wind. It’s 15% contained.
