Furious passengers kick their way out of jammed train door

Furious passengers had to push and kick their way out of a train after its door closed on them moments before setting off.

The LRT-1 train in Manila, Philippines, had pulled up at a station on September 25 when the doors failed.

One commuter had to dangerously force his way through, while another was almost trapped as the train began moving. He had to use all his strength to escape then kick the doors to ensure they didn't trap him as he alighted.

The potentially deadly situation was caught on camera by concerned travellers, who were worried that the faulty doors could have caused a serious accident.

Train operator Light Rail Manila Corporation did not reply to requests for comment about the incident at the Balintawak station in the Caloocan City area of the Philippines capital.
