Horror moment car ploughs into Sikh devotees returning from night prayer in northwest India


This is the horror moment a rashly driven car ploughs into a crowd of devotees returning from night prayers.

The accident in Nangal in north-western India injured nine people, and created panic on the road.

A group of men and women were returning after prayers at a Sikh shrine on January 13. CCTV footage with the police shows a speeding car coming from behind and ploughing into them.

The car also hit two bike riders before fleeing.

People in the vicinity rushed the injured to the nearby BMB hospital.

"Four men were discharged after first aid and five have been admitted for treatment. They are doing well, " said Dr Darshan Singh.

Ishwaq Singh, who was in the crowd but esaped unhurt, said: "The driver was drunk and driving erratically. Police should act promptly and catch him."

“We have registered a case against the unknown driver and begun our investigation,” said a senior police officer Ashok Varma.
