Huge blocks of ice crash onto shore of Lake Erie just feet from onlookers

This is the dramatic moment huge slabs of ice were suddenly forced onto the shore of Lake Erie, missing onlookers by just a few feet.

George Kourounis, who filmed the entire incident on Sunday near Fort Erie in Canada, said:

"We got out of the way just in the nick of time as some of the ice crashed ashore right beside us."

The phenomenon Kourounis captured is known as an "ice shove" and occurs when strong winds force the frozen surface of a lake onto the land.
