Black smoke rises from a fire at an industrial plant in San Roque, Spain.

Thick clouds of black smoke can be seen rising from a blaze at an industrial plant on Spain's south coast.

Chantelle, who filmed these clips, told Newsflare: "As it’s fire season seeing black smoke in the area isn’t a good sign.

"The first reaction was to jump into the car and locate the area of the fire. Once leaving my house and making it to the parking area it became clear that it was the chemical plant on the other side of the road.

"The air smelt like sulfur. This is the first time I have ever seen anything like it."

According to local reports, firefighters are fearing the smoke rising from the fire may be toxic.
