Indian firemen rescue puppy with head stuck in iron gate

Curiosity got a four-month-old pup into serious trouble in eastern India on June 10.

After straying into a home in Bhubaneswar, the dog tried to peep through the grill mesh of an iron gate to get a better view of the street.

And to its horror, it got its head stuck in the fence.

The owner of the house Lingaraj Hati heard the animal crying and went out to check. Unable to free it, he called the Snake Helpline.

Snake Helpline founder Subhendu Mallik reached the spot and tried to free the puppy with the help of locals. After failing he called the Fire brigade for help.

A team of fire personnel arrived promptly and started the rescue operation. Two men held the legs and neck of the dog and gently pulled it out.

The rescue operation lasted just four minutes and the pup ran away happily.

Subhendu Mallik said: "We fed the pup and ensured it was not dehydrated. The firemen did an excellent job."
