John McDonnell MP addresses demonstrators at fast food works 'McStrike'
The Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell has spoken out in solidarity with the workers of food chains including McDonald's, JD Wetherspoon and TGI Fridays in Leicester Square this morning (October 4).
The demonstrators were striking over pay, demanding at least £10 per hour. A common complaint is that their present salaries are too low, often being minimum wage or just above.
